BYD’s D-segment sedan SEAL and C-segment family hatchback DOLPHIN have both received a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety tests — a strong testament to the safety benefits of BYD’s cutting-edge e-Platform 3.0 technology. Notable results include an 89% score for adult occupant protection and 87% for child occupant protection.
These new models feature the ultra-safe Blade Battery, which represents a pinnacle of system efficiency and intelligent vehicle integration. BYD’s fully electric SEAL and DOLPHIN models earned their five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP, Europe’s leading independent safety assessment program.
The D-segment BYD SEAL completed the entire safety test procedure at the highest standard, showcasing its outstanding active and passive safety features, along with the structural advantages of BYD’s CTB (Cell-to-Body) technology. Meanwhile, the C-segment BYD DOLPHIN demonstrated its high quality with strong scores for both adult and child occupant protection.
Euro NCAP’s star rating system is designed to help consumers, families, and businesses easily compare vehicles and make informed safety decisions. Both the BYD SEAL and DOLPHIN earned five stars based on performance in four categories: adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, safety assist systems, and protection of vulnerable road users.
The quality and technological sophistication of BYD’s manufacturing process were especially recognized, with maximum scores attributed to the brand’s engineering and advanced safety systems. The next-generation e-Platform 3.0 includes the world’s first mass-produced, highly integrated 8-in-1 electric powertrain system. It combines all key electronic controllers and management systems, along with the extensively tested, ultra-safe Blade Battery.
This platform incorporates a “multi-directional load path” structure that effectively absorbs energy in the event of a collision, minimizing cabin damage. The Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology further enhances passenger protection with a reinforced body structure and exceptional torsional rigidity.
The BYD SEAL boasts a torsional stiffness comparable to that of a super sports car — 40,500 N·m/degree. This strength contributed to its outstanding performance in crash testing, earning it an 89% score for adult occupant protection. Thanks to CTB technology, the SEAL’s cabin remained stable during frontal crash tests, providing excellent protection for both driver and passengers. The SEAL also offered strong protection against whiplash injuries.
The Euro NCAP tests also praised the eCall emergency system and the post-impact automatic braking feature, which helps prevent secondary collisions.
